Your family is your most important asset, so it's imperative that you have an estate plan that protects your loved ones if something happens to you. Don't risk the fate of your children or your life's savings on a mail-order estate plan that might not work, or that you'll never get around to completing.

Assistance in funding your trust, including transferring your CA real estate to your trust. Estate planning involves complex tax laws that change year after year, and vary state-by-state. Heather Robertson Law is always current on the latest developments in the law, so you can trust that your plan will be done correctly, and it will work (yes, many estate plans don't work!).

Heather started practicing estate planning law in 2001 at an international "Big Four" professional services firm, and was later recruited by a well-respected national law firm based in San Francisco. Heather has spent most of her legal career drafting complex estate plans for high-net-worth families, and devising tax strategies to save clients millions of dollars during their lives and upon death.
Services
Estate Planning is personal, and you need an estate plan that is all about you and your family.
Heather will explain all of your options and make sure your estate plan addresses your specific needs and concerns.
You wouldn't leave your children with a complete stranger - and you should be just as careful with the fate of your family if the unexpected occurs.
Without the overhead of a large firm, Heather is able to charge less for her services.
But, unlike "trust mills" who keep their costs low by churning out cookie-cutter documents, you'll receive a custom estate plan and an ongoing relationship with a local Marin estate planning attorney.
If you die without a will, the state of California will choose the guardian for your minor children, and your assets will be distributed according to intestate laws.
If you die without a trust, and you have over $150,000 in assets, the California courts will administer the distribution of your estate in a process called Probate.
Probate fees are calculated by a state mandated formula, and they range from 1-4 percent of your total estate.
As an example, the probate fees for an estate worth $750,000 (including outstanding loans) will be $36,000.

In 2008, Heather moved to Marin and began her own estate planning practice where she now focuses on protecting families with young children.
We kept procrastinating on our estate plan until we were a month away from leaving on a vacation to Mexico - without our kids, and we still hadn't named a guardian for them!
Heather completed our estate plan in just two weeks, and we enjoyed our vacation much more knowing that our two children would be taken care of if anything happened to us.
Heather is very knowledgeable, and she did a very thorough estate plan for me and my husband.
We both have kids from a prior marriage, and we own property in different states, but Heather had no problem handling these issues, and her fee was very reasonable.
Heather understands that you're busy, so she's available to meet with you on your schedule - at your home or office.
Heather will travel to you, and even meet you in the evening, after work.
Planning for your future shouldn't be difficult!
Office is located in San Francisco's Marina District, between Lombard St. and Chestnut St.
