Very few law firms are founded upon political and social philosophies rather than for economic gain. Weinberg, Roger and Rosenfeld was founded on the principle that working people are entitled to the best legal representation in an economy and social system that was not designed with them in mind. The firm sees itself as a part of the labor movement, along with the labor unions and working people whom it represents.

The original founders of the firm were once part of a larger firm that was headquartered in Southern California. In 1974, the firm took over the Northern California practice with its principal office in San Francisco and satellite offices in Oakland and San Jose. Before long the firm established itself in Los Angeles, Sacramento and Honolulu, Hawaii.

The firm has been true to its origins. All of its original members had trade union and working class backgrounds. When it hired new lawyers, it sought to assure that they not only had solid academic credentials, but that they shared the firm's commitment to social, economic and racial justice.

Black lives matter.
We join the millions who have taken to the streets to mourn and demand justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, Philando Castile, Tanisha Anderson, Yvette Smith, Trayvon Martin, Emmett Till and countless others.
We condemn these unjust killings and support the Black Lives Matters movement and movements for racial justice seeking to expose and eliminate systemic racism.
We know from lived experience, and decades of research and data, that our legal system is unequal.
Our law firm was founded and is sustained on certain fundamental principles --- that greed is not the greatest good, that domination of the many by the few is not inherent in human nature, that it is possible to improve our society by serving a social movement dedicated to improving the lives of the majority who do most of the work.
Each of us has therefore chosen to join a law firm which offers its skills and expertise to the labor movement.
We do this because we believe there is more to our work than just earning a living; we believe that a strong and vibrant labor movement is essential to a just, fair, and democratic society.
