Jim was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin.
He graduated with a degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin in 1979, and earned his J.D. from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1984.
Jim moved to Wyoming in 1982, and married his wife of 38 years, Jill.
He has been engaged in the general practice of law from his office in Jackson Hole since 1985.
