After earning my J.D. from The University of Montana School of Law in 1993, I worked as a law clerk in the Federal Court system, training under Federal Judges Jack Shanstrom and Richard Anderson. Inspired by their work in the criminal justice system, I established Duke Law Firm in 1996 to support the Billings community. Over the past 25 years, I have practiced a wide variety of law at both the state and federal levels.
In addition, I served as Regional Administrator for the Office of the Public Defender for seven and a half years, during which I litigated a number of high profile criminal cases in the Billings area. I consider the work of a public defender essential and I am honored to uphold each individual's Constitutional right to legal representation, regardless of circumstance.
Outside of work, I am an avid hiker and runner, and I regularly train to run half-marathons with my oldest daughter. A regular chess player, I am a seven-time Montana State Chess Champion, with the large trophies in my office to prove it.
