He graduated from Pine Bluff High School.
He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville, and is a graduate of the U of A Fayetteville Law School.
While in law school, Slocum was the president of the Student Bar Association, was a member of the Moot Court Board, and was the winner of the American Bar Association's Client Counseling competition.
Slocum has been an attorney since 1992.
He has tried 46 jury trials to verdict and has tried hundreds of non-jury trials.
