Typically, a divorce begins when one party, via service by state marshal, serves the other with a Summons and Complaint for dissolution of marriage.
Once this happens, Automatic Orders go into effect.
Both parties are bound by these orders and violation of them puts either party at risk for being in contempt of Court.
Both spouses and their lawyers sign a contract committing them to participate in a non-litigious process in the hopes of reaching a settlement, without going to court, which meets the interests and needs of both the parties and any children.
