Michael V. Switzer is dedicated to helping families in the Denver metro area and front range who are in need of family legal guidance.
Michael is a Colorado native who studied at the University of Northern Colorado for his undergraduate degree in history as a secondary education teacher, and then earned his law degree at the University of Denver in 1998.
From 1998 to 2014 Michael was with the well-known firm of Litvak Litvak Mehrtens Epstein & Carlton, P.C. and a shareholder from 2010 to 2014.
Michael decided to use his knowledge and experience to open his own practice, focusing on Family Law, Switzer Family Law Office, LLC.
We understand how overwhelming it can be to find yourself facing the end of a marriage, and dealing with the legal issues that come with divorce.
Our team is here to guide you through the legal process while ensuring that you are treated fairly, with dignity and respect.
Whether facing an ex-spouse, another attorney or the court, you can rely on us to look out for you and make sure your voice is heard.
Family law is complex and often confusing.
If you are struggling to understand your rights and what is required of you by the law or courts, you are not alone.
There are two steps in an adoption case: the first is relinquishing the current parent's rights regarding the child; the second is for a qualified and "morally sound" individual to take the place as the legal parent of the child.
Adoptions can be complex matters, especially if a parent does not agree to relinquish the child, as a parent has certain constitutional rights.
Michael Switzer has successfully completed many adoptions including those where a biological parent objected to the proposed adoption.
The court can make a mistake, even when it operates with the best intentions.
Whether there was an error by the Judge interpreting the law, a misunderstanding of the facts of your case, or a substantial error by the attorney representing you, some mistakes can be corrected.
You have the right to appeal orders in your case.
However, you must do so within the applicable time limits or you will waive that right.
Michael Switzer has extensive practice in drafting appellate briefs and has argued before the Court of Appeals many times.
Family law cases concerning children issues are often the most contentious and difficult.
You love your children, and you will fight as hard as you can to maintain your place in their lives.
We appreciate your feelings, and we want you to know that we will do everything we can to ensure that you get the outcome you want and your children need.
Child Support in Colorado is based on a formula, which considers the overnights each parent will have with the children, each parent's income, and any extra-ordinary expenses including medical expenses, day care costs, and health insurance costs, and then allocate the amount of child support to be paid by each parent.
