The firm started in 1925 under the name of Harold S. Irwin.
In 1954, Harold S. Irwin, Jr. came into the practice with his father and Irwin & Irwin law firm was established.
In 1956 Roger B. Irwin joined the firm with his father and brother at which time the firm became known as Irwin, Irwin & Irwin.
The name stayed the same until 1986 when Marcus A. McKnight, III became a partner and the name of the law firm was changed to Irwin, Irwin & McKnight.
The firm is currently known as Irwin & McKnight, P.C., reflecting the names of its founders and the current majority shareholder, Marcus A. McKnight, III.
