Services
The Health Law Center, PLC (f/k/a Donna Craig & Associates, PLC) was founded on the principle that while the laws and regulations that regulate how health care is delivered are complicated, clients should never feel overwhelmed, confused or frustrated.
In forming a partnership with clients, whether the clients provide health care services or the clients are patients or family members receiving health care services, clients must feel their attorney always has their needs and best interests at heart.

Ms. Craig began her professional career as a registered nurse in the cardiac care unit at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, where she provided acute care and health counseling to patients.
After several years caring for cardiac patients, she had a chance opportunity to audit a graduate course in health care law and ethics, which changed her career path.
That course propelled her to earn her law degree.
After law school Ms. Craig returned to Michigan where she joined a medical malpractice defense law firm in Detroit and focused her practice on health care law and litigation.

Whether a resident physician or advanced practice registered nurse is negotiating his/her first employment agreement or a healthcare company looking to expand, The Health Law Center counsels clients on negotiation strategies and key provisions of proposed contractual arrangements, such as non-compete clauses, compensation and bonus structures.
The Health Law Center goes one step further by reviewing how such initial contractual language could impact the client's autonomy, future opportunities, and professional goals.

Maintaining the privacy of a patient's medical information is a concern of health care providers as well as the patients themselves.
Whether a client is an individual health care professional, health care facility, or a business associate or vendor, they have an obligation to maintain the privacy of a patient's protected health information (PHI), and in certain situations may be required to comply with the HIPAA Security Rule.
To determine a client's level of HIPAA compliance, The Health Law Center routinely conducts risk assessment audits, beginning with a proprietary self-assessment checklist completed by the client.

Whenever a health care provider's professional judgment, actions, or care is questioned, regardless of the facts, it is a devastating and humiliating experience.
If a heath care provider's employment with a health facility is terminated, clinical privileges are restricted, suspended or revoked, or a contract is not renewed, Michigan law requires that such actions be reported to Michigan's Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
Subsequently an investigation may commence.
If the investigation concludes the health care professional violated the public health code, a licensure action will be filed against the health care professional's license.
