Kris was born in Concord, California, and grew up in the San Francisco Bay area.
She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Utah in 1984, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Puget Sound, School of Law in 1987.
Immediately following law school, Ms. Barnum pursued a career as a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
After a decade of Federal service, Kris re-entered private practice with Tueller & Associates, P.C. in Telluride, Colorado, a firm specializing in Real Estate, Corporate and Investment Law.
