Drendel & Jansons Law Group
Although legal services have been declared an essential service during this State of Emergency, we are taking all reasonable and appropriate precautions. Our staff and attorneys are working remotely, but we continue to provide legal services as people need them. We are still meeting with clients and providing legal advice through telephone calls and video conferencing.

We are drafting documents and having them signed using electronic means when appropriate. We are doing remote real estate closings, remote signing of Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney. We are even offering remote mediation services for divorce and other family conflicts. Our roots go back to 1961 when Gilbert X. Drendel, Jr. joined the legendary Reid, Ochsenschlager, Murphy & Hupp law firm in Aurora.

Gilbert ("Gib") Drendel and several other attorneys left to form a new firm in 1981. Seven attorneys moved with him from Aurora to Batavia in 1994 and formed Drendel, Tatnall, Hoffman & McCracken. The Drendel & Jansons Law Group continues the same solid tradition, providing the same sterling legal services and advice to communities, businesses, business owners and their families in Kane County and beyond.

Gilbert Drendel is our mentor and primogenitor; he blazed the trails, lead the way, put the law firm on the map and set it as a beacon on a hill.
We naturally hold him in high esteem, and we are not the only ones.
A local leader, community servant, peacemaker, trendsetter, the "professor" and author of local laws and rules by which the legal tribe practice their professional craft, Gib Drendel is enjoying a well-earned retirement, displaying his skills in manuscripts and books that are the fruits of his new labor tracing ancient family lineages, traveling the country and the world, and simply enjoying life.
Mark D. Brent is a native of Aurora.
He graduated with honors (Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of Illinois in 1988, and the University of Illinois College Of Law in 1991.
Mark spent several years doing major tort and insurance litigation with Williams and Montgomery in Chicago.
He began his focus on Domestic Relations and Family Law in 1997 in Aurora.
Mark is well-versed in all areas of family law, and family law is Mark's primary focus.
Mark is an aggressive advocate for family law clients, handling all types of cases, with a focus on high-conflict issues, custody and removal of children to other states.
