Mr. McAtee began his legal career with the Law Firm of Gibbons, Stokes & Clark, which eventually became Stokes & McAtee in 1982. In 1996, he opened his own firm and has remained primarily involved in medical, retail, and commercial collection work. Mr. McAtee has handled major litigation, including a case against the City of Mobile over drainage issues, and currently maintains approximately 12,000 active accounts.
Mr. McAtee, having served on several bar committees, is especially proud of his work on the District Court Committee where practices and procedures he developed have led to a more efficient running of the District Court. He has lectured at seminars on the subjects of collection practice and the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. In 2002, Mr. McAtee was named Volunteer Lawyer of the Year by the Voluntary Lawyer's Program, an organization for which he was on the Board of Directors for 6 years.
The major advantage of using a law firm for your collections is the ability to provide collection from the letter writing and phone call stages all the way through judgment and post-judgment collection activities.
