We know that going through a Family Law case can be one of the most stressful times in a person's life.
When that happens, you need to have an experienced practitioner guiding you through the process.
With over 25 years of legal experience practicing Family Law in Denton County, Texas, the Heiman Law Firm has experience handling a variety of cases, such as contested divorce cases, child custody proceedings, CPS cases, child support actions and contempt litigation.
Some of those cases are relatively simple and straight-forward, whereas others are complex and ambiguous.
David Heiman has been successfully representing clients in divorce cases and other family law matters at both trial and appellate levels for over 25 years.
Mr. Heiman focuses primarily on practicing family law in the Denton County area with is primary office in Lewisville, Texas.
David Heiman serves as a divorce lawyer in typical cases of divorce, but he also integrated himself as a proponent of the new Texas Collaborative Law process.
The new Collaborative Law process is not for everyone and Mr. Heiman will explain all the ins and outs of the process.
Mr. Heiman practices Collaborative Law, should you be interested in that method of legal resolution.
The "collaborative law concept" is still relatively new to Texas, but has established itself as a viable alternative to divorce litigation when both parties are committed to: 1. resolving the issues of the case amicably; and 2. both parties act honorably and in good faith.
Instead of a typical divorce where couples battle out their disputes publicly in a courtroom, collaborative law offers a calmer alternative of dispute resolution.
Those factors bear on the issue of whether it will be necessary to have a contested Parental Rights Termination case before the adoption can even be considered.
And, that issue has a significant impact on how complicated, and long, your adoption effort will be; and also, how much the adoption case will cost.
There are some things which are required to take place before a Texas adoption can occur, such as the termination of at least one of the natural parents' rights.
This can occur by agreement of the parent, by death of that parent, or by the law, after a trial.
You have your day in Family court.
The parties testify, their lawyers present evidence, and make legal arguments.
At the conclusion of the trial, the court announces its decision.
You may win in every respect, or you may be dissatisfied with the judgment of the court.
Perhaps because it gives you less than what you had hoped for; or maybe the judgment goes against you entirely.
When you are dissatisfied with the trial court's decision, there may be a sound legal basis for having a higher court examine the record of the trial to search for reversible errors.
