The offices of Fitzpatrick, Trombley, Owens & Lahtinen of Plattsburgh, New York, which focused its practice on litigation for 35 years, with senior partner James Fitzpatrick serving the community as Chairman of the New York State Power Authority for 15 years and as a New York State Assemblyman for 10 years.
The firm of Stafford, Purcell & Edwards, also of Plattsburgh, had an impressive 25 year practice focusing on transactional law.

He then attended Albany Law School of Union University, where he received his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1959.
