Services
Thurman Law Firm was established in 1948 by J.W. Thurman.
Mr. Thurman came to Jefferson County from the Office of the State Tax Commission in Jefferson City where he served as general counsel during most of World War II.
He chose to establish a law practice in Jefferson County because it had many of the attributes of the rural southeast upland Ozark country in Reynolds County where he had been raised and which he so dearly loved.
After being in Jefferson County only a short period of time, Mr. Thurman ran for and was elected as the county prosecutor.

We have various employment opportunities for attorneys, paralegals, clerks, and administrative assistants.
We hire attorneys who have recently completed or will soon complete law school, as well as attorneys who have engaged in the practice of law elsewhere.
We employ paralegals and clerks who can perform legal research, assist in the preparation of pleadings and discovery, assist with investigation, and otherwise assist with the legal services required to represent our clients.
We also employ administrative assistants who support our attorneys in transcribing dictation, organizing files and assisting in communication with clients.

We are in an age of specialization.
As times have changed, no attorney can possibly keep up with all areas and complexities of the law, and that is why our team is comprised of the top legal minds, each with their own area of practice.
Our firm is also unique in that while we all specialize in various aspects of the law, the size of our legal team allows us to offer counsel on nearly any facet of the law.
Our leadership team at the Thurman Law firm will determine which attorney can best represent you in handling your case.

As an attorney and a proud adoptive father of my daughter Katherine, I have seen just about every joy and difficulty that one can experience.
Many people told me that parenthood is a long rewarding journey.
Few realize that for many people simply becoming parents is a long difficult journey in and of itself.
But for those of you, like me, who have struggled to have children, I assure you that the gift of adoption is amazing, and worth the struggle.
There will be tears, long nights, questions without answers, but in the end it will all be forgotten as you help someone in need, and change the life of a child.

Many landowners and businesses have pursued and benefited from an unexpected source of revenue from their property, a cell tower.
Once a tower is up and running on your property, it may seem like a windfall.
However, securing a lease for the tower and keeping this stream of income flowing can be challenging.
Certainly, additional revenue collected from a cell-tower lease can be beneficial to the property owner, but if not properly protected, the lease could create hardship, lost business, or an inability to sell your property.
