Attorney Kathryn (Katie) Foster is a family-focused, passionate and zealous advocate whose practice is primarily devoted to litigating child welfare and custody matters.
For almost a decade in practice, Katie has advocated and negotiated for the best possible outcomes for parents, children, and families.
Committed to hearing and acting on the priorities and needs of her clients, Katie writes appeals, litigates trial cases, negotiates custody and parenting agreements, mediates, and achieves meaningful resolution even in very contentious cases.
The success of my practice comes from my ardent philosophy of providing clients with the most elite, aggressive representation that always includes meticulous listening, diligent legal research, thorough motion practice, advanced legal writing, skilled negotiating, and comprehensive hearing and trial representation.
Prior to graduating cum laude from Western New England University School of Law, I received a Master of Social Work degree (M.S.W.) from Boston University, making me uniquely qualified to advocate for people with complex legal, cultural, economic, and clinical needs who are facing the overwhelming power of the state.
My philosophy and passion for family defense is rooted in the principle that families have the fundamental right to be together.
In advocating for families facing the overwhelming power of the state child welfare system, I provide zealous representation and individualized support at all levels - from families navigating a 51A report or open clinical case, to trial work after a child is removed and placed in substitute care, to appellate work after a termination of parental rights.
Prior to joining Foster and Blanchette, I graduated summa cum laude from Western New England University School of Law and received a coveted fellowship in family defense from Massachusetts' public defender agency, the Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS).
DCF (the Department of Children and Families) is a uniquely powerful state agency that families too often underestimate with devastating outcomes including the permanent termination of parental rights and the involuntary adoption of their children by other families.
Massachusetts' Supreme Judicial Court has held that [t]he rights to conceive and to raise one's children are essential.
The need for swift and aggressive advocacy begins the moment DCF intervenes in your family or in the family of a loved one.
Conflicts over child custody, child guardianships, and private petitions for adoption, are complex and volatile legal areas that should not be navigated without skilled and experienced attorneys.
Foster and Blanchette provide effective representation in these situations, along with limited divorce litigation.
Attorneys Foster and Blanchette encourage a child-centered approach that favors skillful negotiations for fair settlements, all while fully preparing to succeed at trial in those cases where the other party is abusive, uncompromising, or unmanageable.
