Born in Miami, Florida, Mr. Zies moved to the Central Florida area in the late 1970's and eventually attended Rollins College.
After graduating from Tulane Law School, Mr. Zies clerked with the civil firm of Troutman & Williams in Winter Park, FL from 1987 to 1990.
After his clerkship, Mr. Zies was hired as an Assistant State Attorney in Seminole County.
Mr. Zies was eventually named head of DUI prosecutions in Seminole County.
Mr. Zies eventually left the Office of the State Attorney and was a member of the firm of Padawer & Zies from 1992 to 1996.

GAIL GARNER, R.N., CLA, is the Legal Administrator and Paralegal Manager for The Defense Group.
Ms. Garner has been employed as a Legal Administrator with this firm and its predecessor firm since 1984.
Prior to that, she had been a Registered Nurse, a High School Teacher and a Legal Secretary.
Ms. Garner's primary function is to handle the firm's financial and administrative issues, including working with the firm's accountants, insurance representatives, telephone, computer and other communications professionals, and all of the Human Resources functions of the firm.
Ms. Garner has been employed as a Legal Administrator with this firm and its predecessor firm since 1984.
