Why do I need a lawyer?
We often work with clients who initially asked this question before they saw us.
We also regularly work with clients who tried to file bankruptcy on their own.
Often the experience of people who have tried to do it themselves serves as the cautionary tale that convinces people to work with an experienced bankruptcy attorney.
Which debts are discharged in bankruptcy?
Are you someone who believes that they cannot discharge medical debt?
Or that taxes cannot be discharged?
Perhaps you are considering the possibility of discharging student loans.
At Levitt & Slafkes, P.C., our foreclosure defense attorneys act aggressively to protect our clients from losing their homes to foreclosure.
Our attorneys, Bruce Levitt and Shelley Slafkes, treat each client as an individual and effectively leverage their knowledge and experience to craft individually customized strategies.
Attorney Levitt is a leader in foreclosure defense in New Jersey.
He has defeated numerous foreclosures on behalf of homeowners.
Additionally, he successfully litigated the nationally recognized case Kemp v. Countrywide Home Loans in United States Bankruptcy Court, where he defeated the mortgage company's attempt to assert its claim.
When your home loan payment is unaffordable, a mortgage modification may reduce your monthly payment to a manageable amount, allowing you to stay in your home.
Hiring a loan modification attorney makes this process easier, smoother, and less stressful.
Mortgage modification lawyers specialize in helping clients in your exact situation.
The bank must approve your loan modification, and the approval process can be difficult.
An experienced loan modification attorney in NJ, however, can put you in the best position to get your modification approved.
For more than 30 years, the attorneys of Levitt & Slafkes, P.C., have delivered custom legal representation to businesses in Essex County and throughout New Jersey.
We draw on our bankruptcy practice to protect clients' interests in litigation matters that involve bankruptcy and general commercial disputes.
We represent our clients in courts at all levels: state, federal and bankruptcy.
We understand the differences, not only in the laws governing each of those different areas, but also in the rules and practices.
