I am committed to helping my clients protect their families, their assets and their values by crafting estate plans that "hope for the best and plan for the worst." I help my clients choose the best way to distribute assets to their children and grandchildren and to make gifts to those charitable organizations that have been important to them throughout their lives.

I also help parents think through how to select appropriate guardians for their young children. The most important part of my work is advance health care planning - helping my clients clearly express their wishes for end-of-life care so that their loved ones are fully informed and authorized to act for them under difficult and highly emotional conditions.

I frequently speak to community and professional groups about estate planning topics and more - e.g., how to organize your personal and financial paperwork, how to decide whether to age in place or move into a retirement community, and how to discuss end-of-life values and decisions with your family.
Services
The estate planning process doesn't have to be complicated or uncomfortable.
Together we'll create an easy-to-understand estate plan that fits your needs.
I will help you identify your estate planning "team" and organize your estate planning documents and financial records, making it easy for you and for your loved ones to know exactly what to do next.
If you have young children, we'll also prepare nominations of guardians - both temporary (emergency) and permanent.
While it is difficult to provide an exact estimate without understanding your specific situation, I think it's helpful to offer basic information about what my estate planning and administration services cost.
If you are considering moving into a retirement community, I can help you better understand the legal, healthcare, and financial implications of your choices.
I can also review the Continuing Care (Life Care) contract with you and help you to negotiate the best possible terms.
As an Elder Law attorney, I am familiar with retirement communities throughout the Bay Area.
I can help you decide if you prefer to age in place, move closer to your children, or move into a retirement community.
I frequently speak to community and professional groups about retirement living options.
I regularly speak to community and professional audiences about Estate Planning, Elder Law, and Retirement Living topics.
If you have a group who could benefit from a short, introductory talk or perhaps a longer, hands-on workshop, please contact me.
I'm happy to create a talk that suits your particular audience.
This seminar is an introduction to the basics of estate planning, including why it's so important to make a plan, how to choose the right individuals to serve as your successor trustees and healthcare agents, planning for your blended family, and the delicate task of passing on your wealth to your children and grandchildren in ways that encourage, rather than dampen, their own independence and achievement.
