Prior to private practice, Tom Niekamp served as Senior Counsel for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), and the Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau (TTB) for over 25 years. During that time, Tom handled an extensive array of federal alcohol, tobacco, firearms, and explosives licensing and tax matters. Tom is now an alcohol and tobacco regulatory attorney.
Since retiring in 2014, Tom has provided consultation and legal advice to law firms and industry members throughout the country. In the past, Tom worked as a regulatory consultant for one of the top 100 largest law firms in the United States. Tom has provided industry compliance training for decades and most recently, has been a guest speaker on Federal TTB issues involving craft brewers and distillers for CLE International, the National Business Institute, and Moonshine University.
Tom has decades of experience working closely with TTB's National Revenue Center in Cincinnati, which is responsible for TTB's tax and application services, including screening applications, issuing permits and approving notices or registrations.
