Services
Saleeby and Cox cautions that you should contact an attorney immediately if you believe you, your family member or your business are the target of a local or federal criminal investigation.
If you have been formally charged with a crime, or arrested, meeting with an attorney immediately could strengthen the defense of your case.
Your constitutional right to remain silent and request an attorney is the most important thing to remember if you have been arrested or are being questioned about a crime.
Real estate can be an important investment and a valuable asset.
If you are selling or acquiring commercial real estate, an attorney can assist in all phases of the transaction, including preparation of the offer to purchase, obtaining financing, conducting due diligence, ensuring clean and marketable title, and drafting and reviewing closing documents.
An attorney's assistance is also recommended for the preparation and recording of other documents affecting real estate, such as leases, easements, restrictive covenants, and condominium declarations.
What are the grounds for divorce?
In South Carolina there are five grounds for divorce: separation of the spouses for at least one year (the "no-fault divorce"), adultery, physical cruelty, habitual drunkenness (alcohol or narcotic drugs) and desertion.
Your lawyer will ask you about your situation and advise you about your case.
State law requires that a family court judge make a specific finding that reconciliation is not possible before the judge can grant a divorce.
When you and your spouse have separated but do not have grounds for divorce, you can apply to the court for the right to live separate and apart.
An estate plan is one of the greatest gifts you can make to your loved ones.
Leaving a clear plan in place, or even avoiding the Probate process is a valuable gift to your family and friends as they experience the grieving process.
We are able to assist clients with titling assets properly for the client's protection as part of a comprehensive Estate Plan.
Another wonderful part of Estate Planning is making gifts to individuals and charities.
Estate planning can be simple or complex.
You may need to protect assets through the creation of irrevocable trusts, prenuptial agreements or other legal documents.
Many people that come to our office want to know if "they have a case."
In order for us to determine if someone has a case, we must first know the type of claim that he or she has.
A Personal injury claim arises when people are injured by the careless or intentional acts of others.
When someone is determined to be responsible for injuring someone else, they may be liable for the injury, and it is possible that they will have to pay the injured person for their damages.
While we have handled cases in many other parts of the state, and in Federal Court, most of the cases we handle are located in Chesterfield, Marlboro, Darlington, Lee, and Dillon counties.
