When we use the term "workers' compensation law, " we're using an umbrella term that covers an entire system of laws.
This system describes what injured employees are entitled to in terms of compensation and how they can claim that compensation.
These laws vary from state to state, and indeed from industry to industry (as is the case with federal workers, railroad employees, etc.).
All employers are obligated by law to carry workers' compensation insurance to protect any employees who become injured while working.
Many employers and employees are unaware of the broad scope of injuries and conditions that workers' compensation can cover.
This brief overview will highlight some of the injuries that can be covered by worker's compensation.
And employers who are reading this-take note: It's important to do what you can to ensure that your employees are protected against conditions which cause these injuries.
Some of our clients were under the impression that workers' compensation only applied to certain injuries or injuries that were particularly severe.
Many of our worker's comp clients come to us after having first tried to navigate the worker's compensation system on their own.
Their employer assured them that it was a simple process, but when they actually began to try to file their claim, they found out otherwise.
Even when an offer was made, it seemed unfair.
Usually, The Kitch Law Firm can help rectify this, but it's always better to start by having an attorney before you begin the filing process, as there are some mistakes that are difficult to reverse, and could result in the loss of benefits.
