Matthew first moved to Frederick as a teen and attended TJ High before graduating early to enlist in the U.S. Army.
Shortly after Matthew joined the Army, the nation was stunned by the events of 9/11.
Matthew continued serving for a total of thirteen years.
He deployed multiple times in the Global War on Terror, serving around the world in Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan as an Infantryman and Intelligence Collector.
