Chawla Legal Group
Chawla Legal Group is still here to help. With the shelter in place mandate by the State of Michigan, Chawla Legal Group has gone virtual. All of our workshops are now webinar series. All of our client meetings are now by phone and online via WebEx or Zoom. Please keep us in mind for your estate planning needs during this strange time. At Chawla Legal Group, we develop lifelong relationships with you, so we can ensure that you will have lifelong plans that give you lifelong control.

We do not treat you like a transaction, charge you for your documents, and send you on your way. Instead, we welcome you into an estate planning process that starts with education to help you decide what your goals are. Next, we assess what your goals, needs, and wants are so we can put the proper estate planning tools in place. Then we design your plan and draft all the necessary documents.

After reviewing and signing the documents, we make sure the plan is fully funded and that you have had a discussion with your family and financial professionals to make sure everyone is on the same page as to how your plan will work.
Services
Chawla Legal Group is focused on family.
Our mission with each client is to meet the client's goal to create an estate plan that protects them, their assets and their family whether they are living a healthy life, rendered incapacitated, or upon death.
Chawla Legal Group helps its clients put together a personalized plan, get it implemented (funded), and maintain the plan to keep it on course in meeting the client's goals.
With a focus on personalizing and continuously maintaining plans for each individual client and their family, Chawla legal Group has an emphasis on client relationships rather than just simply providing legal documents.
It's about protecting what you have for you, during your lifetime, and for those you love after you're gone.
It ensures what you have gets to the people you love, the way you want, when you want.
It involves working with you to meet your goals when it comes to managing your assets, making medical decisions, making legal and financial decisions, and making decisions regarding your loved ones that are dependent on you.
Traditional estate planning keeps you in control of how your your life when you are well.
Like traditional estate planning, asset protection planning involves working with you to meet your goals when it comes to managing your assets, making medical decisions, making legal and financial decisions, and making decisions regarding your loved ones that are dependent on you.
Asset protection planning adds the additional service of planning to protect your assets from creditors and predators such as lawsuits, family members, nursing homes, and Medicaid both while you are living (whether you are alive and well or incapacitated) and upon death.
There are many truths and myths about Medicaid.
The fact of the matter is, you do not have to lose all that you have worked hard for to pay for your long-term care costs.
Medicaid is a complex system that many are not properly equipped to navigate.
A nursing home social worker has a job to do, and it is to take care of you when you are in a facility.
They should not be the ones counseling you on how to properly qualify for Medicaid.
They are not the experts!
At Chawla Legal Group, we can put a plan in place to help you preserve between 65-100% of your hard earned life savings and still qualify you for Medicaid whether it is in a pre-planning stage or a crisis.
Disability and Special Needs Planning is used to protect individuals with disabilities or special needs, or family members with disabilities or special needs.
It is often the goal of the client to protect the assets of the individual with disabilities or special needs from creditors and predators while still allowing them to qualify for State assistance such as Medicaid.
To accomplish the goals of protection of the individual, Powers of Attorney are put in place and often guardianship proceedings occur to maintain protective powers over minor children or family members as they approach the age of 18.
