With the enactment of the Georgia Crime Victims Bill of Rights in 1995, individuals impacted by violent crime are afforded specific services to enable them to take steps toward restoration.
Through the district attorney offices in each of the 49 Georgia judicial circuits and the solicitor-general offices in 27 of the 159 counties, victim-witness personnel are mandated and available to guide these individuals through what can be a confusing, complicated judicial process.
Victim-witness personnel assist with obtaining appropriate restitution and compensation through the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.

A Law Enforcement Officer's Guide to Open Records in Georgia (Third Edition, 2014), also known as The Blue Book, was a collaborative effort between the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia Department of Law, Georgia First Amendment Foundation, Georgia Press Association, Georgia Public Safety Training Center, Georgia Sheriffs' Association, Georgia Department of Public Safety, and the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia.

The Prosecuting Attorneys' Council has established a central registry for prosecuting attorneys ofmunicipal courts in Georgia as required by O.C.G.A. § 15-18-91.
The 2012 Georgia General Assembly enacted legislation that requires Georgia cities that have a prosecuting attorney's office for their municipal court to submit copies of the resolution or ordinance creating the office to the Council (O.C.G.A. § 15-18-91, enacted by 2012 SB 352, effective 4/11/12).
The law DOES NOT REQUIRE any municipality to hire or have a municipal prosecuting attorney.
