After graduating, he went on to earn his bachelor's degree in history, graduating from Northwestern College in 2006.

Strom graduated from the University of North Dakota Law School in 2013.
As a law student, he participated in moot court, worked as a law clerk for Rosenquist & Arnason PLLP, and had the opportunity to serve as a legal extern working with the United States Air Force at Grand Forks Air Base.
