Mimi Wagner grew up in Friday Harbor, attending kindergarten through high school on San Juan Island.
She graduated from law school in 2000, and returned to Friday Harbor in 2005 after a judicial clerkship and practicing with a highly regarded (AV-rated) law firm in Denver, Colorado.
In 2005, she joined Bill Weissinger at the firm, which was then known as the Law Offices of William J. Weissinger PS.

He worked in the Boston, Massachusetts area for 8 years, first with a prestigious law firm, and then as in-house counsel to a large diversified public company.
