This site is not designed to educate lawyers. It's only purpose is to help you find answers to your legal questions, including how to choose the lawyer for your family's planning needs. Here we use only everyday language - never "legalese." If you have questions that we haven't answered here about planning for yourself or your loved ones or the administration of an estate or trust, please Contact Us and let us know what they are.

We'd love to hear from you. We are here to serve you whenever you need us. To learn a little more about who we are and how we're different from other lawyers, please listen to my brief recorded message then explore our web site. Services
Brown, Lacallade & Lange, P.C. is a civil practice law firm founded in 1991 by Dick Terrell Brown and Charles L. "Chuck" Lacallade in Austin.
Since 1995, the firm has also had an office in Kingsland to serve the Highland Lakes area.
Both Dick and Chuck are graduate mechanical engineers who left their engineering careers to become lawyers because they wanted to help people.
With broad business and technical backgrounds coupled with years of representing clients in connection with a wide variety of legal issues, Brown, Lacallade & Lange offers our clients a depth of understanding and perspective available in few other law firms nationwide.
We believe in personalized service for each and every client.
Our approach is educational and proactive - we first determine each client's individual needs, desires and values, and then tailor their plan to best fulfill their dreams.
And all our work is done for a flat fee agreed to with our client before we begin the work - no surprises!
Once we have created your estate plan, you can have us review your plan every three years for no charge to make sure that, as your life, assets, and the law change, your estate plan stays current.
What do you think of when you hear the word "Estate"?
For some, it is a large house on a manicured green field, perhaps in England or on a headland on the Irish coast.
For others, the image that springs into the mind is Scrooge McDuck in his vault.
For them, "estate planning" is probably what the wealthy do.
Actually, each one of us has an estate and you will want to plan for what will happen to it if you become incapacitated or when you die.
To remember these four components of wealth, we use their first letters, which spell "FISH."
Explaining to you how we're different when it comes to estate-related matters requires an explanation of what the "traditional" experience with a lawyer in such matters is like.
If you've had a lawyer prepare estate planning documents for you in the past or you've been involved in the administration of the estate of a loved one who has died, this will sound familiar.
During the traditional experience, you'll go in and meet with a lawyer who will oftentimes make things seem very complicated and confusing.
Our family wealth plan (estate plan +) development process is designed to ensure your confidence at each step along the way from our first meeting through the delivery of your completed plan documents and beyond.
Every decision is reviewed with you multiple times and yet the entire process doesn't stretch out beyond 8 weeks.
Also important to know is that within ONE MONTH after your first meeting with me, your family could be totally protected.
Our estate plan development process begins with you making an appointment for a personal Family Wealth Planning Session with me.
