Services
Jarrett & Luitjens serves the legal needs of clients throughout Vermont by planning and settling estates, for special needs planning and for elder law issues.
It is the only work we do.
We are experienced local professionals.
We also are members of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Vermont Elder Resource Group.
We can make sure you'll be able to pass your assets on to whom you want, when you want, in the manner you want-while protecting your estate against probate, litigation and paying too much in taxes.
I am pleased to highly recommend the law firm of Jarrett & Luitjens, having recently received remarkable assistance from Geraldine Stewart, attorney at law - through complex issues regarding an estate settlement.
This kind of experience stands in contrast to many I have had with less optimal responsiveness, not to mention attitude.
My estate planning documents were drafted many years ago, but at the time of my husband's death, I still had a number of questions.
Mr. Jarrett was extremely helpful and responsive.
While nobody wants to think about death or disability, establishing an estate plan is one of the most important steps you can take to protect yourself and your loved ones.
Proper estate planning not only puts you in charge of your finances, it can also spare your loved ones of the expense, delay and frustration associated with managing your affairs when you pass away or become disabled.
If you become incapacitated, you may not be able to manage your own financial affairs.
Many are under the mistaken impression that their spouse or adult children can automatically take over for them in case they become incapacitated.
You've worked hard your whole life to provide for your family and make your loved ones more secure.
Without advanced estate planning strategies, much of the significant assets you have accumulated may end up with the IRS and state taxing authorities.
Our firm regularly assists affluent families with such sophisticated planning strategies as Credit Shelter Trusts, Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts and a wide range of charitable gifting techniques to reduce Federal Estate Taxes, Gift Taxes and Generation Skipping Transfer Taxes.
The high cost of long-term care has made planning a critically important issue for most middle class seniors and their families.
In fact, most seniors will likely require some form of long-term care.
Sadly, many of them are unprepared for the significant financial burdens it places on their family's hard earned savings.
Financial devastation looms large for a family facing ongoing care at a rate of $10,000 or more per month.
While some seniors are able to afford private pay care, the cost of long-term care will wipe out savings of all but the wealthiest families in a matter of years.
