She graduated from Smith College in 2000.
She then earned her law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2004 and obtained her Texas law license that same year.
Ms. Cavazos Castillo was formerly an Assistant District Attorney with the Hidalgo County District Attorney's Office for ten years.
As a felony prosecutor she gained extensive trial experience in major offenses such as aggravated sexual assaults, aggravated sexual assaults against children, aggravated robberies, intoxication manslaughter, murders and capital murders.
