If you do not have a will or other estate plan in place at the time of your death, you leave the State of Maryland and its courts in charge of determining what happens to your home, nest egg, and other assets. Any other states where you hold real property will also decide what happens to the assets you worked so hard to obtain.

The #1 Maryland Estate Planning Mistake: This Can Be COSTLY
Maryland estate planning can be a confusing process, and one major mistake that people make is one of the easiest to avoid. In this video, learn how to save yourself time, money and headaches with proper estate planning.
Estate planning in Maryland is something you need to get right the first time. The #1 mistake people make is by adding their children to their bank accounts. This leads to major problems later on, as it exposes the bank account to the child's creditors. Establishing a Maryland power of attorney is a much safer, proper move.

⁉ Common questions people have in the estate planning process:
How do I avoid probate in Maryland?
What does proper estate planning look like?
How do I fill out the Maryland Register of Wills forms properly?
How do I find an estate planning attorney who understands my family's situation?
What do I need to know about Maryland wills?
It's impossible to predict future financial problems -- you might add an extremely trustworthy child to your bank account and they could get in a car accident, start a business that goes bankrupt, or rack up credit card debt years down the road, all of which would expose YOUR assets to their creditors.
Even well-meaning, hard-working, trustworthy heirs sometimes fall into debt, and if you add them to your bank accounts, it exposes your assets.
If you're in Anne Arundel Maryland, we can show you how designating a power of attorney will prevent all of these problems while still allowing your loved ones to access the money they need when they need it.
You can also establish a living trust with designated beneficiaries to prevent family conflicts over your assets after death. Again, proper estate planning today can prevent future problems and keep a family financially secure.
If you need help with estate planning AND you're a Maryland resident, reach out to us at 410.590.1900 and we'll help get you started with proper estate planning.

I attended a workshop last summer to learn about trusts and will. The presentation was very informative, which led me to book a one on one with Mr Jimeno. He was very knowledgeable and helpful in explaining what I needed to do to secure my property. I have employed their services and so far so good.

We are in the process of pre-planning our estate. Greg Jimeno and Lisa Eckstorm made the process of getting a will, power of attorney and advance directives easy and seamless. Greg spent time discussing our family situation and current and future needs to match us up with the most appropriate documents and financial plan for our situation. Even during the pandemic, meetings were professional and conducted in a timely manner (via zoom). We never felt as if we were "rushed" or that we were sold something that we did not need. We have recommended Chesapeake Wills and Trusts to our friends.

Greg Jimeno and his team were great! Greg listened to what we wanted, gave options for us to choose, and followed through on everything as committed! His team was professional, responsive, and easy to work with. A follow up call with our daughters to go over the estate plan was also included and added an extra level of comfort. I would highly recommend Greg and his team for estate planning services
