She was born and raised in Southern California and graduated from Beverly Hills High School.
In 1977, she received her Bachelor's Degree from UCLA, and graduated from Southwestern Law School in 1981.
During Law School she attended an accelerated program, where she quickly developed skills and knowledge exceptional to a lawyer.
After becoming a member of the Bar in the state of California, Karen's first employment was in a diverse firm which practiced Divorce, Bankruptcy, and Family Law.
