Do you need assistance with probate after the loss of a loved one? Do you need to become a guardian for a family member who is unable to take care of himself or herself because of age, medical condition or special needs? Are you interested in creating an estate plan? My practice areas include probate, guardianship and conservatorship, and estate planning.
At John Glassman, P.A. I have been providing trusted guidance on these issues for people in Pensacola and the Florida Panhandle for more than 25 years, earning a strong base of repeat clients as well as referrals from past clients and fellow attorneys. I believe in providing hands-on representation. At the outset, I will take the time to educate you about the complex details of this area of the law as they apply to your case.
My philosophy is that if you do not completely understand your case and your options, I have not done my job. You will understand the choices available, and I will guide you toward the one that makes the most sense based on your circumstances.

Having served people throughout the Florida Panhandle legal community for over two decades I have earned the trust of my clients and community.
I am frequently asked to present seminars and workshops on these practice areas to my colleagues.
However, the focus of my teaching is consumers.

Since 1988 I've worked to achieve a positive outcome for my estate planning clients.
Estate planning, taxes, rules and laws change yearly.
A lawyer must keep up with these frequent changes and understand how they apply on a case-by-case basis.
Additionally a qualified lawyer must also be willing to work closely with each client, understanding that client's needs in order to produce an outcome that is truly right for that client.
My clients benefit from the hands-on representation I provide in every case, regardless of practice area.

If you make an arrangement to have someone else (called a "Trustee") look after asset (s) upon your death as per the terms of your will this is a trust.
A "revocable" or "living trust" is created for you or someone else while you're still alive, instead of one created at your death.
A trust created or that comes into existence after death is almost always irrevocable.
A revocable trust in Florida requires a two year statute of nonclaim.
This means that your designated Trustee must wait two years after you die to see if there are any creditors that must be paid.

For more than 25 years, I have been guiding people in Pensacola and the Florida Panhandle through the Florida probate process.
My goal is to make certain everything is done in accordance with your loved one's wishes, minimizing the time, cost and effort involved.
If you have lost a parent or another family member, the probate process may be necessary to ensure proper distribution of your loved one's assets.
If you have lost a spouse, the probate process may be unnecessary.
Frequently, everything is co-owned between spouses, so all assets automatically pass to you under Florida law.

Did you just get married or give birth to a child?
Have you built up a savings account and some assets?
Whether you are young or old, if you have property, it is likely that you will not want your property to pass in the manner that Florida law says it will.
You may have specific goals for what you want to do with your property.
That is why an estate plan is important.
With nearly 30 years of experience helping people in Pensacola and the Florida Panhandle, I know the importance of creating customized estate plans.
