If you entered a plea to a qualifying offense, you may be eligible to have your case sealed.
Sealing your case means that the case file will be removed from public view (meaning an online clerk of court record search will come back empty) and someone would need a court order to access your actual file.
If you are able to successfully seal a case, you may even be able to lawfully deny you were ever arrested/charged with a crime in the future (subject to a few exceptions).
When a record is expunged, your actual case file is destroyed.
