During some late night internet research I stumbled upon some good legal info from David J Willis.
I read several pages of well written real estate law, and decided to buy his book "Real Estate Law & Asset Protection for Texas Real Estate Investors."
Since then I've formed a new LLC with David, I was very impressed with the speed at which he answers questions and gets things done!
David J. Willis is an expert in the field of asset protection.
He provided excellent legal advice to me on several issues.
We form both traditional and series LLCs in Texas and Nevada.
Inquire about our recommended two-company structure for real estate investors.
Most investors do not need a more elaborate structure than this classic set-up.
Also, if you have an existing traditional LLC or series LLC that was formed with only a minimal, one-pager type filing, we can fully re-document it with all new, professional-level documents that will bring the company current and up to par with the latest in Texas asset protection law (this is our "LLC re-doc" option).
We are generally available on business days during normal office hours (Monday through Friday, 8-5 CST).
Our response time is usually one to two business days from the time we receive all necessary information and payment from the client - but it can vary according to our backlog.
Advance payment is required.
There are a variety of available payment options on the website's payment page, including credit/debit and Paypal, as well as wire transfer and direct deposit to our operating account at Wells Fargo.
Each of these is just an example with many possible variations.
Our goal is to custom-design legal entity structures that maximize asset protection while providing for efficient operation.
Simpler is usually better in our view, so we strive for structures that are clean and free of unnecessary entity clutter.
Because this firm has significant litigation experience, we are also focused on being able to defend any structure we create if it is challenged in court.
It is suggested that one read our article Asset Protection in Texas, for valuable context in the interpretation and application of the foregoing diagrams.
A "shelf company" is an existing legal entity - usually an LLC or a corporation - available for sale and assignment to a new owner.
In the case of our law firm, the shelf companies offered are unused Texas or Nevada Series LLC's with premium asset protection and anonymity features - plus one or more assumed name certificates filed with the county clerk.
Except for obtaining an EIN and opening a bank account (which can be done in a few hours) these companies are ready to do business now, an important consideration if time is a factor.
