Services
The Felony Division prosecutes the most serious crimes committed in our community.
The Felony prosecutors bring to trial persons accused of murder, robbery, drug distribution, certain firearms offenses and other serious felonies.
Cases come into the Office of the State's Attorney, usually as the result of a police investigation, are screened and if appropriate, assigned to prosecutors for presentation to the Grand Jury.
A Grand Jury is a group of 23 citizens, picked from the voter and motor vehicle roles, empowered by law to evaluate a criminal matter and decide whether criminal charges should continue through the Circuit Court criminal process.

The juvenile system is designed by Maryland law to provide rehabilitative services to delinquent youth, rather than traditional criminal sanctions and involves many different levels of interaction from the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, a State agency charged with handling delinquent youth.

Metered parking can be found all around the courthouse or you can park in the Bel Air Parking Garage located between Hickory Avenue and Courtland Street, approximately one block away.

Metered parking is available on downtown streets, various public lots and in the Bel Air Parking Garage located at 6 South Hickory Avenue.

Article 47 of the Maryland Declaration of Rights guarantees you, as the victim of crime, the right to be treated with dignity, respect, and sensitivity during all phases of the criminal justice process and by all agents of the criminal justice system.
Within 10 days of the filing of a petition to the Court, the State's Attorney's Office should send you a Crime Victim Notification and Demand for Rights form.
You are also eligible to receive notification regarding custody status of the offender through the VINE system, a nationwide automated notification system.
