The mission of the Office of the District Attorney is to represent victims of crime and the rights of Californians in an efficient, effective and ethical manner as an administrator of justice. In furtherance of our mission, we participate in the life of our community, support appropriate efforts to prevent crime, provide opportunities for our youth to make intelligent choices and educate our citizens about the causes of crime and its impact on our quality of life and democratic system of self-government.

Tulare County residents are reporting a new rash of phone scams by individuals posing as the IRS. Don't fall victim to this scam. End the conversation and report it. Drunk driving is the nation's most frequently committed violent crimes that can lead to injury, death, and incarceration. Do the right thing, dont' drink and drive. Human trafficking is modern day slavery in which victims are controlled for sex or labor services.

We actively protect the citizens of Tulare County from violence and exploitation through aggressive investigation, prosecution and enforcement of all criminal and civil laws.
In furtherance of our mission, we vigorously seek civil remedies on behalf of defrauded consumers and businesses put at a competitive disadvantage by unfair business practices, protect our elderly and children and provide compassion and support for victims of crime.
District Attorney Tim Ward leads a staff of nearly two hundred dedicated individuals.
The Office of the District Attorney over the years has provided exceptional service to the citizens of our communities.
As the region has changed, so has this office.
We've grown from a small office to our current multi-faceted organization of over 200 people including 65 attorneys.

Throughout the year, this office and its staff, lead, teach, participate and represent this community in a variety of contexts throughout California and reaching across the nation.
The primary purpose of the Bureau of Investigations is to provide professional investigative support for the prosecutors in the Office of the District Attorney.
All District Attorney Investigators are sworn peace officers.
The Bureau is staffed with some of the most experienced investigators in Tulare County.
Members of the Bureau of Investigations are recognized throughout Tulare County for their expertise in a wide array of investigative functions ranging from homicide investigations to complex and intricate white collar criminal activity.
The Gang Violence Division handles all adult felony cases involving violent crimes, gang crimes, and career criminal prosecutions.
The Special Crimes Division prosecutes auto theft cases, marijuana suppression, rural/agricultural crimes, rape cases, Violence Against Women Act prosecutions, and elder abuse.
The Financial Crimes Division is responsible for prosecuting real estate fraud cases, white collar crimes, asset forfeiture actions, welfare fraud and consumer protection cases.
The Crimes Against Children Division, was created by District Attorney Tim Ward in 2014.

California has a history rich in the development of victim services, and in 1980, the first Victim/Witness Assistance Division was established in Tulare County.
The program has offices in Visalia, Porterville, and Juvenile, and services the courts county-wide.
