Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project
The GDVLP is a pro bono program created in 1988. We are located at the Dayton Bar Association and are supported by Legal Aid of Western Ohio (LAWO). We serve as a complement to Legal Aid by registering private attorneys to provide pro bono legal services in civil case areas. The VLP does no criminal work. If you are not familiar with VLP and your first contact with us is online, we would be pleased to help you.

If you are looking for legal help, you must contact http://www.legalaidline.org/ and apply for assistance. Legal Aid Line can also be reached at 1-888-534-1432. Legal Aid Line does all intake for VLP. The Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) provides innovative opportunities for attorneys to perform pro bono civil legal services to benefit persons with limited financial resources.

When an attorney or other legal professional desires to fulfill his or her personal or professional calling or duty to contribute service to others, then GDVLP provides an effective bridge between that drive to serve and individuals with limited economic resources, as well as other non-profits with similar missions, needing help for civil legal issues.
Services
The Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project is a complementary agency to Legal Aid Of Western Ohio.
Our office currently has a staff of three; Kelly Henrici, Executive Director, Kathy Miller, Paralegal, and Thomas Snelling, Program Coordinator.
Even with this small staff and a very frugal budget, the agency continues to provide services to approximately 1000 cases each year.
Family law is the area of greatest need, but GDVLP has underserved clients needing assistance in bankruptcy, consumer law, probate law, unemployment appeals, expungements, and many other areas of the law.
The Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project (GDVLP) and our volunteers have helped provide excellent legal services to the less fortunate in the Miami Valley community.
Without the aid of volunteer attorneys our clients would never have a chance for justice in our legal system.
So join up with us and be a hero to someone in need!
Not sure if you have the time or skills to volunteer?
We have programs with all levels of service, training opportunities, and can work with your scheduling needs.
Whatever your goals, personally or professionally, we can help you achieve them.
So many talented attorneys in our community volunteer their time through the VLP, and we can't say thank you nearly often enough.
So we've come up with an additional way to say thank you.
On a quarterly basis, we will be giving "Unsung Heroes" awards to those volunteers who selflessly give their time and talent to those in our community who need legal assistance in civil matters.
The VLP is proud to name John P. Hilgeman of Cowan and Hilgeman as its first "Unsung Hero".
His never ending belief that all individuals are entitled to access to justice has made his dedication and willingness to help unfaltering.
How can we possibly thank every member of the Greater Dayton legal community for the valuable assistance provided to those less fortunate?
Sometimes words just don't seem to be enough.
We never cease to be impressed by the willingness of lawyers in our seven county service region (Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Montgomery, Miami, and Preble) to support the Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project through generous financial contributions and the countless hours of volunteered representation.
We assist people individually.
Kelly Henrici joined the Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project in 2014 as its Executive Director.
A graduate of the University of Dayton School of Law, Kelly's prior experience includes serving as General Counsel of The Relizon Company and Executive Director of the Program in Law and Technology at the University of Dayton School of Law.
When she isn't serving the Dayton community through the GDVLP, Kelly is an avid cyclist and a private pilot.
Kathy Miller is a graduate of the paralegal program at Sinclair Community College.
