Divorce is an emotionally painful and difficult matter.
The emotions eventually fade, but the legal matters decided in a divorce can last forever.
An attorney's job is to develop and analyze all facts, determine all potential options and likely outcomes, and clearly explain them to the client.
Every legal matter, and client, is different.
The experience of the firm is key to determining the specifics of each case and determining how best to proceed to get the results you want.
Our goal is to explain the lawclearly, advise how a Court might apply the law to the facts in your case, provide the client with every pleading, correspondence or contact as soon as it is received, and be available day or night to answer your questions.
Being a member of modern society means that one enters into a huge number of transactions over a lifetime.
Everyone is subject to numerous contracts, e.g.
In the old west, such disputes might be handled by a six-shooter.
In modern society, lawsuits are often necessary to enforce one's rights.
Many commercial disputes are legally highly technical and demand an experienced attorney to protect the interests of the client.
Types of disputes might include disputes between partners in a partnership, a real estate deal gone sour, collecting a judgment, suing for payment on goods delivered but not paid for, foreclosing upon real estate or personal property due to a breach of a payment obligation, and/or pursuing a claim in bankruptcy court.
Worker's Compensation is that area of the law which provides medical and disability benefits to injured workers.
It differs from personal injury claims in that it is governed by a series of statutes, rather than common law.
Because the rights and obligations of interested parties (the worker, employer and insurance company) are more or less clearly defined in the statutes, many if not most worker's compensation claims do not necessarily require an attorney.
However, disputes do often arise, and it often behooves a client to seek legal counsel.
Personal Injury Claims arise out of many different situations; automobile collisions, slip and fall injuries, medical malpractice, defective products, etc.
One thing all such claims have in common is that one must prove some form of fault by a third party or company.
It is not enough to simply suffer damages.
Another thing that all such claims have in common is that the liable third party is usually covered by insurance.
Thus, while you might be making a claim against an individual, the actual entity "on the hook" is an insurance company.
In this blog, I hope to regularly share my thoughts about my legal practice, legal developments around the world, and whatever else comes to mind.
I hope you enjoy it!
As we are turning into a "do it yourself" society, at least if it can be done on the internet, I thought I'd provide some resources for you to explore legal issues and answers on your own.
If you are indigent or meet income guidelines, you may be able to obtain a free or low cost lawyer through Colorado Legal Services.
