I recently retired from the bench of the Circuit Court of Cook County and have re-entered the general practice of law. Being entrusted by the people of Cook County to serve in this judicial capacity has been both an honor and privilege. I am most grateful to them for allowing me the opportunity to have had such a rewarding career.
Over the past 24 years I served the Court in such areas as complex commercial/business litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death and products liability, as well as, all criminal matters including DUI and traffic related cases. It is this knowledge and experience gained over the years that I bring to the next phase of my legal career.
I look forward to meeting you and exploring ways that I and my staff can assist you. I believe that a successful lawyer-client relationship is founded on my commitment to you, and on my ability to communicate in a caring and responsive manner.
In addition to practicing law I have become actively involved with ADR Systems of America, LLC, an alternative dispute resolution company, as a mediator and arbitrator specializing in commercial/business litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice, construction litigation, wrongful death, and products liability.

Upon my retirement from the bench of the Circuit Court of Cook County, and believing that I still have a lot to offer the people of this community, I founded the Law Offices of Daniel J. Kelley in early 2008.

If you have been charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI or DWI), vehicular homicide, or any other alcohol related criminal or driving offense, it is critical that you contact an experienced criminal and DUI attorney as soon as possible to protect your rights and to preserve any defenses that you might have available to you.
DUI is a serious criminal offense in Illinois and you should be aware that there are serious consequences to you if you are found guilty of it.
If you are a repeat DUI/DWI offender these punishments are even more severe.

If you or a loved one have been arrested and charged with a crime or have learned that you may be the subject or target of a criminal investigation, the most important decision you can make is deciding who will represent you in fighting these charges.
I know that to a client and his or her family, all criminal charges are serious matters - no matter how minor they are.
I know that clients charged with a crime face an a great deal of personal stress and that part of my job is to do all that I can to minimize that stress.

While not every injured person needs an attorney, we encourage everyone to at least consult one to make sure you understand your rights.
Never sign anything until you have talked to an attorney.
Many valuable rights can be permanently forfeited because the injured person believed what he or she was told by the insurance company.
Remember: the only person truly working in your best interests is the lawyer you hire.
The sad reality is that many accidents are not accidents at all.
They are caused by the preventable carelessness of others.

A 1999 report from the National Academy of Sciences' Institute of Medicine cites studies showing that the conservative estimate of people who die each year due to mistakes by medical professionals is between 44,000 and 98,000.
According to a more recent study of 37 million patient records that was released by HealthGrades, a healthcare quality company, an average of 195,000 people in the USA died due to potentially preventable, in-hospital medical errors in each of the years 2000, 2001 and 2002.
