He maintains an "AV" preeminent peer rating by Martindale-Hubbell. Judge Granville Sumner Ridley founded Bouldin & Bouldin, PLC, after the close of the Civil War.
His son, Granville Sumner Ridley, Jr., soon joined after graduating from Vanderbilt University and serving in the United States Army during World War I. During his career, he served as a Special Justice on the Supreme Court of Tennessee.
