Estate planning is the creation of a definite plan for managing your wealth while you're alive and distributing it after your death. These assets may be owned by you separately or jointly with others. Estate planning is the preservation and the distribution of your assets, both during your life and upon your death. It is accomplishing your personal and family goals and easing the management of your financial and legal affairs, as well as minimizing taxes if your estate is large enough for taxes to be of concern.

When we talk about an estate, we mean all assets of any value that you own, including real property, business interests, investments, insurance proceeds, personal property and even your personal effects. An "estate plan, " generally, refers to the means by which your estate is passed on to your loved ones on your death. Elder Law involves planning for the complex health care, long-term care, and other issues facing elderly and disabled individuals and their families.

Studies show that we stand a 40 percent chance of needing long-term care at least once before we die.

Thank you for helping Litherland, Kennedy & Associates, APC, Attorneys at Law make a difference in our local community by donating to our One Warm Coat drive.
We are thankful and excited to have exceeded our goal of collecting 50 coats.
Special thanks to Realtor Kelsey Lane for sharing the information about our drive with her clients.
There are 39 million Americans living in poverty and struggling to pay their bills and support their families, and they are often unable to afford to purchase warm coats.
When it comes to wealth, the steps you take to protect your assets are every bit as important as the work that went into building that nest egg in the first place.
And yet many Americans continue to do very little to ensure that they have the asset protection they need.
That lack of attention can place their wealth at risk from threats that only seem to grow in number with each passing year.
The failure to protect assets can have dramatic consequences for your family's financial security, and can deny you the financial freedom you deserve.
