The Kania Law Firm
Our new address will be: 82 Patton Ave., Ste. Since 1985, our attorneys, with over 100 years combined experience, have represented counties, municipalities, banks, and individuals in tax collections, loan defaults, bankruptcy, real estate and title litigation throughout North Carolina. Q: If I win the bid and tender my purchase funds, is the deed I receive clear of all liens?.

A: A tax foreclosure action, if properly conducted, extinguishes all liens, unless otherwise excluded on the Sale Notice. However, our office does not normally certify title to buyers unless retained to do so by you, so you are encouraged to have your attorney review the title should you have any title concerns. Our law firm is one of the preeminent firms in the state for tax collections, foreclosure sales, and more.

One of the main focuses of our practice involves conducting judicial tax foreclosures, and we can provide up-to-date information about upcoming auctions and current listings. We are one of very few firms in the state that offer these services, and we have streamlined our processes over the years to provide the most efficient, effective experience for those interested in purchasing a foreclosure property at auction.
Services
A main focus of our practice involves tax collection and conducting judicial tax foreclosure sales.
Our in depth knowledge of the Machinery Act as well as other statutes and case law related to tax collections has allowed us to file thousands of tax collection actions and successfully conduct over a thousand tax sales.
Moreover, our experience of handling 30,000 title certifications has allowed us to develop a deep insight into solving problems related to complex titles presenting unfiled estates, unknown owners, and missing heirs.
Tax Foreclosure Sales are conducted a little bit differently in each location.
It is important for investors to understand how the process works so that they are well equipped for successful bidding.
If you are an investor, please note that county courthouses may have different hours of operation, locations, auction procedures and upset bid requirements.
We encourage you to review what the sale process looks like in the location of which you are interested in purchasing property.
We maintain a current list of foreclosure listings in Western North Carolina, and we welcome you to look over these listings for any properties that interest you.
