Services
At our law firm we focus in making the process of Adjustment of Status (AOS) available for you.
One way to obtain a Green Card is by applying for AOS.
The advantage of AOS is that you do not have to leave the United States in order to get your Green Card.
Not everyone who is petitioned by a qualified relative or employer is eligible for AOS even if you are married to or are the child of a U.S. citizen.
You should be aware that if you entered the United States illegally or have failed to maintain your legal status you are prohibited from AOS unless you qualify for certain exceptions.
There are many ways to get a Green Card, otherwise known as Lawful Permanent Residence (LPR) in the United States.
To become a LPR means that you have the right to live and work in the United States indefinitely, provided that you obey our laws.
The first step that you have to take to obtain a Green Card is through a petition or an application, depending on the process you follow.
From Green Card to U.S. Citizenship is possible in several ways.
The most common is by applying for Naturalization after you have been a Lawful Permanent Resident for five years, or, three years if you are married to a U.S. citizen.
Naturalization for adults is the process by which a Green Card holder may obtain U.S. citizenship.
Some basic requirements entail five years of Lawful Permanent Residence (LPR), or three years if you are married to a U.S. citizen, good moral character, competency in the English language and U.S. government and history, and continuous physical presence in the United States.
Naturalization for Minors entails a simpler process for the children under the age of 18 of a naturalized U.S. citizen.
