Facing a legal issue such as divorce or another family law matter can be an overwhelming experience.
You are likely not all that familiar with the laws or procedures while, at the same time, you are dealing with the emotional challenges that these issues bring.
You may be experiencing loss, anger, grief or other difficult reactions resulting from the ending of your marriage or disputed issues.
This is often accentuated by the enormity of having to make decisions concerning yourself and your children that can have far-reaching consequences long into the future.
Finances are often a big factor in the breakup of marriages.
Unfortunately, it is not a problem that automatically ends after a divorce.
Transitioning to a new life as a single person can be difficult when you can no longer rely on two incomes or a substantial income from your spouse.
This is especially true for stay-at-home parents who have not worked and have little resources, individuals with much lower paying jobs than their partners, Individuals with health difficulties, or older individuals of retirement age.
Child custody is one of those issues in divorce, post-divorce, or between unmarried parents that can be very divisive.
Your child's wellbeing and welfare are generally one of your most worrisome issues when faced with the end of your marriage or relationship.
You obviously want to ensure that your relationship with your child is maintained in the best possible manner and that can feel threatened when a custody issue arises.
Protecting your parental rights both during and after a divorce and long into the future is commonly a matter that creates uncertainty and anxiety in any parent.
