Finding creative solutions that work for everyone-whether divorcing, dissolving a business or resolving a dispute-is both tremendously challenging and truly satisfying. I spent a career as a New York City and Westchester County lawyer litigating conflicts through the judicial system. Now, it is a pleasure for me to offer less contentious alternatives that my clients find consistent with their personal values.

Together, we focus on what matters most: a resolution that leaves all parties with their shared goals achieved and their individual dignity intact. By facilitating productive discussion, I help people navigate the difficulties of the conflict without enduring the misery of combat. The philosophy and techniques of mediation and collaborative law are often more effective and always far less stressful than the bureaucracy and battles that take place in court.

Securing a future on your own terms can make your divorce (or commercial dispute) feel like the first chapter of a satisfying story, not a tale of regret and remorse.
Services
After receiving my J.D. in 1993.,
I began practicing litigation in New York City, where I amassed over a decade of experience conducting trials and appeals in a broad range of matrimonial and complex commercial matters.
While I enjoyed and appreciated the strengths of the judicial system, I also recognized its shortcomings in delivering meaningful and satisfying resolutions to conflicts.
I discovered mediation and collaborative law after my three daughters were born, after I had some time away from litigation.
In each of the services I provide, I strive to help my clients not only to find solutions to their conflict, but to promote peaceful and lasting resolution.
The goal is not merely to win the day; but to do so without losing sight of what matters most to them.
Statements on this website are attorney advertising, they do not constitute legal advice or establish an attorney-client relationship.
Every legal matter is different.
The outcome of each legal case depends upon many factors, including the facts of the case, and no attorney can guarantee a positive result in any particular case.
If you are considering divorce, the most important thing you need to know is that how you choose to divorce can have a greater impact on your life and your family than just about any other choice you make.
For years, the knee-jerk advice given to people considering divorce was to call the toughest divorce lawyer they knew and heed their advice.
By doing so, they kick-started a process which pit them and their spouse against each other in fierce conflict.
I know, because for many years I was one of those lawyers leading my clients into that battle.
A mediator works directly with people in conflict to find a mutually agreeable resolution to their dispute.
However, the mediator does not decide or pass judgment.
The parties make all of the decisions.
Mediation services are about helping people find the solutions that work best for them.
The mediator's job is to help the parties to fully understand and effectively communicate their needs in a safe and confidential environment.
Acting as a neutral guide, a good mediator facilitates important discussions and provides valuable information and insight along the way.
Collaborative Law uses an interdisciplinary team of professionals who work together with the parties to help find solutions that work for everyone.
Collaboration provides people in conflict with individual support and expert guidance.
And it promotes cooperation and civility along the way.
In Collaborative Law, each party has the support and advice of their own attorney who is duty-bound to represent their interests.
But rather than work at cross purposes to one another in an adversarial manner, collaborative attorneys work cooperatively.
