I have been practicing law for sixteen years.
For the past two decades, my law practice has been almost exclusively landlord / tenant law.
Over this period, I have represented hundreds of commercial and residential owners and managers.
I have resolved every manner of commercial and residential dispute, including claims of breach of lease, habitability problems, code violations, illegals entries, discrimination, retaliation and security deposit disputes.
I have also represented many clients in commercial and residential evictions and other property seizures.

My wife Amanda and I moved to Oregon when she was accepted to the OSU Veterinary Medicine program.
After she graduated, I went to Mt. Hood Community College and then Portland State University where I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology.
After college I began working for Cascadia Behavioral Health care where I worked with clients suffering from severe and persistent mental illness.
After a few years of working in the field of mental health, it became apparent to me that my skills were not being fully utilized, and Amanda and I began to talk about other potential career options.

A lease is an agreement between a landlord and a tenant and is a legal, binding contract.
It usually states a fixed rate of rent for a period of time-usually a year or longer.
Some leases will allow a landlord to raise the rent after a 30-day notice.
A long-term lease at a fixed rate, however, stipulates that the landlord cannot raise the rent during the term of the lease.
Although, landlords in Portland may make larger increases if a 90 day written notice is given.
These agreements must be drafted carefully, with all of the details in clear legal language, if you hope to avoid misunderstandings or legal problems in the future.
