After working several years in this profession, he returned to school to obtain a law degree He was awarded a scholarship to University of Minnesota Law School where he interned as a public defender and was the student coordinator for the Criminal Defense Clinic.
He moved to Cape Girardeau to be close to his and his wife's families.
