Services
After several years working together as bankruptcy and debt-collection attorneys for banks, mortgage companies, and credit unions, our partners Jim Nobile and Matt Thompson decided to change course.
Jim and Matt felt that their experience working for "the other side" gave them insight that could be valuable to consumers looking for a lawyer to work to protect the consumer's rights.
So in 2001 they formed their own law firm which is today known as Nobile & Thompson Co.
At Nobile & Thompson, you can expect to be treated with dignity and respect in a casual laid-back environment.
The attorneys at Nobile & Thompson have over 50 years of combined experience handling bankruptcy issues from both a debtor and creditor point of view.
Over that time, we have answered many questions and concerns from our clients as to the bankruptcy process.
Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.
Bankruptcy is a legal process in which people who cannot pay all of their debts can get protection from their creditors and eliminate their debts in whole or in part.
The goal of a bankruptcy is to obtain a discharge of indebtedness which permanently stops Creditors from pursuing the collection of the debt.
You may already have tried to bring all of this up to the bill collector.
But often, the bill collectors ignore your concerns and continue to press on with their collection tactics.
However, you may have significant protections available to you under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
Hiring a lawyer can be expensive, but the FDCPA provides payment for attorney fees if you win your case.
If your case is strong, your only up-front fees will be the filing fee that must be paid to the clerk of courts.
If you have been in an accident that is NOT your fault, you may be entitled to compensation for the diminished value of your vehicle.
What exactly is diminished value?
When your car is in an accident that is reported to the police and/or an insurance company, car buying tool companies such as CarFax and Autocheck will pick up on it.
From that time forward your car will carry a negative accident history.
Today's car buyers are more savvy than ever (do you remember reviewing a CarFax report when you bought your last car?).
The following cases are the pending Class Actions in which Nobile & Thompson Co., L.P.A. has been or is about to be appointed as Class Counsel by the Courts.
Each case has its own case schedule, which may be monitored separately.
A link may be available which may take you to a separate website which contains official required Class Notices and other Court / Case Information.
