Keith Uhl, a native Iowan, took his graduate and legal studies at George Washington University, Washington, D.C. While in Washington D.C., he worked for the United States House of Representatives for Ben Reifel. He returned to Iowa in 1972 to begin four years of service in the United States Attorney's Office in the Southern District of Iowa, serving a portion of that time as Assistant United States Attorney and as a special prosecutor in charge of the Wounded Knee litigation.

While in private practice, Keith served as a state commissioner on the State of Iowa Environmental Protection Commission between 1981 and 1988. He also was a member of the executive committee that managed the first race for Chuck Grassley for the United States Senate and Terry Branstad for the governorship. Over the years he has been Iowa Presidential Caucus Advisor to George Bush, Sr., Elizabeth Dole, Arlen Spector and Donald Rumsfeld.

Uhl has also coached a little league soccer team and served on the oversight committees for both Greenwood and Callanan Schools.
